Michael Powell is a Vice President for the Construction Division at the American Arbitration Association and manages the Los Angeles Regional Office. With more than three decades of experience at the AAA, he provides strategic leadership for construction and commercial alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services throughout the Pacific West region.
At the national level, Mr. Powell contributes to the development and growth of AAA’s construction caseload through close collaboration with industry professional associations, including his work with the National Construction Dispute Resolution Committee. He regularly advises corporate, legal, and public sector stakeholders on effective dispute resolution strategies and is known for designing customized ADR systems that promote early resolution, procedural efficiency, and meaningful cost savings.
He frequently authors articles on dispute resolution topics and presents at industry conferences and professional programs. His professional service includes active involvement with the AAA-ICDR Foundation and the California Dispute Resolution Council (CDRC), which focuses on legislative and judicial issues affecting ADR in California. In addition, he serves as an advisor to several local ADR organizations, contributing practical insight and leadership to the advancement of the dispute resolution field.
