SAN CLEMENTE, CA – After 25 years in the consulting business, the employees at Pete Fowler Construction Services (PFCS) have seen a lot. While much has changed since the San Clemente-based consulting firm opened its doors in 1997, some things remain true; When construction projects go wrong, the costs quickly add up.
In these types of situations, the experts at PFCS can step in and stop the financial bleeding. A case study on the firm’s web site illustrates one of many ways the firm has completed this mission. For example, there was a medical building with two parking levels below and two floors of office space. Constructed in 1980, it underwent multiple renovations.
A new owner contracted for more than $800,000 in tenant improvements to create a plastic surgery center. The owners had paid most of the contract price, plus change orders, but the project was not nearing completion. PFCS was hired to find out why.
PFCS looked at every aspect of the project, including halting construction, redeveloping the scope of work, vetting new designers / contractors, and getting the project back on track. They served as experts in the litigation process and the list goes on. They were able to save $60,000 on a single designer by competitively bidding and vetting. Additional specifics of this case can be requested from PFCS.
As sponsors of Construction Super Conference (CSC), PFCS representatives had a chance to chat with attendees in Orlando last year. This year they will be back at CSC in Las Vegas when the show convenes Dec. 5-7, 2022 at the MGM Grand.
Those who made the effort last year were able to touch base with a full service consulting firm with building experts and project management professionals specializing in construction defects, property damage and personal injury claims. PFCS also provides expert testimony, quality and construction management, and cost estimating.
“People think we are builders, but we are not,” says Chase Henry (pictured), operations manager. “People come to us with expensive building problems when the construction process goes wrong, and we help them make the most informed decision possible to solve the problem. We act with integrity, solve the problem, and yes, we do awesome work.”
There are a lot of consultants out there who will reveal what they think, but Henry points out that technical expertise is only part of the equation. “A fundamental part of our core philosophy is that we act with integrity,” he says. “We’re not just going to tell you what you want to hear. We are going to provide you with a thorough analysis to help you make informed decisions.”
Henry learned of CSC through a valued client in the Florida market, and PFCS intends to return to the show this year. “One of our senior technical experts attended CSC last year and shared that it was a great event,” Henry adds. “We’re excited to attend the Vegas event later this year.”
