The American Arbitration Association’s Construction Mega Project Panel (CMPP) is a counsel-rated national panel of elite arbitrators and mediators selected for their ability to resolve the construction industry’s most complex, high-value disputes. As mega projects grow in scale and sophistication, driven by traditional and alternative delivery including EPC, Design/Build and PPP, disputes increasingly involve multi-party claims, technical evidence, and significant financial exposure.
This session provides an inside look at the CMPP, including how its arbitrators are selected and what differentiates them in practice. Speakers will highlight the core competencies that make these neutrals highly sought after, including expertise in CPM scheduling, delay and disruption analysis, damages modeling, and managing expert-driven records.
The discussion will focus on how CMPP arbitrators handle critical issues such as multi-party case management, phased proceedings, early issue resolution, and complex evidentiary processes. Common dispute types, including, delay, cost overruns, defects, and risk allocation will be explored alongside strategies for both arbitration and mediation, including timing, hybrid approaches, and settlement dynamics.
