CSC will be switching venues in 2019 from Las Vegas to Palos Verdes, a seaside community on a peninsula overlooking the Pacific. It’s a bold move, and Kevin Gaffney, conference director, believes new and repeat attendees will appreciate the switch. “Terranea in Palos Verdes is a spectacular location,” he says. “Las Vegas is still a popular destination, but we thought the time was right for a change of scenery. Our plan is to return to fabulous Las Vegas next year for a multi-year run, however for 2019 we also think that sunny California and the Pacific ocean will be a welcome pre-holiday respite in what is a self-contained resort with excellent facilities and amenities.”
Robert S. Peckar, founding partner, Peckar & Abramson, P.C., New York, NY, admits that while he liked other recent venues, he is willing to give Palos Verdes a chance. “Truthfully, I am not sure if this was a good idea or not,” says Peckar, a member of the CSC Advisory Board. “The proof will be in the pudding. I have been reluctant to move from San Francisco or Las Vegas because those venues have been successful. My mind is open on this.”
“I’m not going to lie—the Wynn Encore in Vegas has made a close to perfect location for CSC recently, but change is not only inevitable, it’s good,” adds Brian Perlberg, executive director of ConsensusDocs & Senior Counsel, also a member of the CSC Advisory Board. “I’ve never been to the Terranea Resort Oceanfront in Palos Verdes, but everyone who has says it is impressively beautiful. I’m looking forward to the ocean views and warm weather in December while I get top notch CLE, reconnect with longtime connections, and make new ones.”
